Day-by-Day Itinerary

Please note that the below sample itinerary is not representative of your final itinerary (unless you choose not to personalize it further). The purpose of this itinerary is to provide you with a general idea of what your day might look like. Your actual day-by-day itinerary will be fully customized to suit your trip schedule and specific needs.

Day 1

Get ready for the trip of a lifetime! Today, you’ll board your flight from the United States to Lisbon, Portugal.

Day 2

Welcome to Lisbon! Upon arrival, you will go through customs and immigration. You’ll be met at the airport and transported to your hotel.

Begin the afternoon with lunch in one of the many cafes to be found though out Lisbon. We recommend adding a sightseeing tour at the beginning of your trip, as it will help you get to grips with the city and set you up for a couple of days of exploring!

In the afternoon, consider heading to an authentic Fado house for a performance or take the city tramway to the Estrela district to see the magnificent Estrela Basilica. Finish your night in a local tavern listening to traditional folk music with a beer in hand.

Day 3

Begin your day at the Praça do Comércio, then catch the tram to Belem to see the cloisters of Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you’ve worked up an appetite, be sure to stop for a tasty pastel de nata (custard tart) at the famous ‘Antigua Confeitaria de Belem’. While in Belém, be sure to see one of the major sights of Lisbon, the National Coach Museum or ‘Museu Nacional dos Coches’.

Head to one of Lisbon’s laneways to dine on tasty Portuguese cuisine, or make your way around the bustling bars that make Lisbon’s nightlife so famous.

Day 4

Make the most of your final day in Lisbon by getting up early to explore the Rua Augusta, the perfect place to do some shopping. Head on to the Rossio and the main square of Baixa, where you can admire the paved cobblestones in waved patterns and enjoy pastries or an espresso at a nearby café, as the locals do.

This evening, take the Elevador de Santa Justa to the buzzing Bairro Alto for panoramic views of the city. If you like port, be sure to head to the ‘Solar do Vinho do Porto’ where you can sample over 200 types of port wine. Since it’s your last evening in Lisbon, why not enjoy authentic Portuguese dishes like cataplana (kettle of fish) or clam stew for dinner?

Day 5

Today you’ll continue your journey with a flight to Barcelona. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then make your way to the airport – just let us know if you’d like us to book you a transfer. Upon arrival, make your way through customs and immigration, where a representative will be waiting for you at the exit to take you to your hotel.

This afternoon you’ll have plenty of time to explore Barcelona. Make your way to the Plaça de Catalunya, the cultural heart of Barcelona, to soak up the atmosphere at one of the open-air cafes here. Stroll along La Rambla, a hub of activity with street performers, local vendors and restaurants, and sip sangria at a road-side bar.

Day 6

Today, we recommend booking a tour of the Gothic Quarter so you have chance to explore the streets, squares, beautiful architecture and hidden gems of this historic district. Afterwards, head to La Sagrada Familia and Park Guell, two of Gaudi’s most famous works. Sagrada Familia is a stunning work of architecture, while Parc Guell is a fairytale-like park that is unlike anything you will have seen before. If you want to see more of Gaudi’s work, head to the Passeig de Gracia to see Casa Batlló and Casa Milà.

Day 7

Barcelona is blessed with both city and beach life, so be sure to make the most of it! Today, head to Barceloneta to soak up some rays and stop for lunch at one of the many beach-side cafes and restaurants. Perhaps you’ll choose to explore the zoo, botanical gardens, or one of the many museums dotted across the city.

A trip to Montjuic Hill is a must; here, you can admire art at the Fundació de Joan Miró and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), then head to the summit to see the incredible Montjuïc Castle and some of the most spectacular views of Barcelona. The Magic Fountain’s music, light and water spectacle will make for a perfect ending to your stay in Barcelona.

Day 8

Depart your hotel for the airport for your return home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer, if so, a representative will meet you at the hotel to take you to the airport for your flight home.

Additional Days

Should you wish to add extra days to existing cities/destinations or add new destinations to your pre-designed package, you will be able to do so during the submission process. Note that this will incur additional planning fees per additional day at checkout. Your final package cost will also change depending on how many additional travel components are needed for the extra days.
